ABOUT THE DIRECTOR :
My name is Debbie Popiel and I’m excited to be the new director here at Kids Incorporated.
The mom of two, (ages 17 and 11) I have dedicated my life’s work to children and early childhood education. A former New Yorker, I have lived in the Valley since 1993. I received a Bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and went on to study elementary education at Ottawa University and received a CDA (Child Development Associates) from Central Arizona College. I have 20 years of experience as an educator and shared my career between the corporate and private sector, most recently as the director of a local preschool for 8 years. My family and I are big sports enthusiasts and enjoy spending time together either watching or playing sports and traveling. My daughter has recently begun cheerleading and during football season you can find me under the lights at my son’s high school games. I love the outdoors, hike often and practice yoga. I am also an avid runner and am training for my fifth marathon this June in San Diego.
As a classroom educator I have always stressed the importance of social and emotional development along with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. My goals here are to continue to provide your family with a safe, secure, fun environment and build a strong school community. We want your experience to be positive and be an informational resource for all your parenting needs. My door is always open (even though you will find me in a classroom or at the front desk!) so please let me know how I can assist you, ask me any questions and provide me with valuable feedback so we can continue to bridge any gap between home and school.
